The Largest LEGO Festival in Dubai

-

We were invited to witness the kick-off of LEGO Festival last night at Dubai Festival City – dubbed as the “largest in the Middle East.” So I took the family to the mall and the Festival Bay.

Eye-catching LEGO formations we’re all over the mall. We checked out some of the 7 LEGO® zones across the mall and the little ones had fun playing with bricks and in joining some active games.

My daughter loved the Shadow Runner the most wherein she had to beat the life-size LEGO mascot in an augmented reality race. She loved it as she saw herself live on the screen on the actual mini-run; and she enjoyed the replay as well. They say the video will be emailed to us, and we’re just waiting to get the email to download my daughter’s video.

She also did the Ninjago obstacle challenge in her own teeny-tiny fashion.

The highlight of the night was the launch of the all-new and exclusive IMAGINE Ninjago fountain and LED show, and the spectacular fireworks display. Ninjago mascots and other characters were also at the event.

The 7 Zones

LEGO City:
Play in the ice fishing holes of the ice caps filled with blue colour LEGO bricks, but beware of the swimming Polar bear, or explore the Penguin Igloo and build your very own LEGO Snow man. Why not join in and build a huge Fire engine! The live build, instructed by our builders, will support the public to create a life sized LEGO fire engine made of 100s of thousands of bricks.

LEGO Friends:
This is the visitors chance to meet Andrea, Emma, Mia, Olivia and Stephanie, and be brought into their home of Heartlake City. The five exploring, creative, funny and quirky characters all bring heart to every solution.

LEGO Duplo
Caters for our youngest of visitors and lets them unleash their unlimited potential, learn through play and engage with their family. Build pits, build tables and a Duplo train all set in a park themed space. Not forgetting our LEGO Duplo animal models.

LEGO NINJAGO
Test you ability to tame the Dragons and become a master, take on the Ninjago challenges, or perfect your build skills in our brick arena. The LEGO NINJAGO theme comes to life in this rustic ninja backdrop of Gates, Lanterns, posts and crates. LEGO NINJAGO is a rich story universe which inspires both engaging roleplay and creative building. A team of young ninja confront the forces of evil in this popular LEGO theme designed for kids who love adventure

LEGO Technic
This is both a fun zone but also for our more experienced/older builders. Children get to build, race and jump a car while taking a picture on our podium with our LEGO champions cup, or imagine and build a tower that will go in the ever growing skyline. For the experienced its a zone that allows them to create perfectly engineered buildings or test their mechanical skills with creating with LEGO Technic bricks.

LEGO Shadow Runner
This is a unique experience that allows participants to race against a life size LEGO MINIFIGURE in Augmented Reality. The race is displayed live on a large screen (and other screens), captures a time for a leaderboard, replays instantly and posts to a social stream or a private download link is emailed direct to the racer! Do you have what it takes to beat the LEGO MINIFIGURE?

LEGO Jungle
A jungle full of LEGO animals from a life size Elephant, gorilla to a snake and meerkats. This is a great exhibition piece that is a great photo opportunity and inspiring.

Entry to the paid zones is AED30. LEGO® Festival is open until 1st of Feb only.
