We didn’t wear our wedding rings for over a decade

-

For about 10+ years, we’re not wearing our wedding rings. One reason, our fingers have swollen a few years after the wedding and they no longer fit.

We didn’t bother to replace them right away. For one, we were laser-focused on things that matter more at that time – and the kids.

Also, I thought a ring is only as meaningful as we choose to put whatever meaning on it.

I’ll be honest, the absence of rings on our fingers never became a big deal. We have a good relationship, enjoyed our conversations every day, and we’re always able to get through the arguments and other struggles that marriage typically encounters. Wearing the ring or not didn’t really matter to us.

Until recently…

…the wife suggested it’s about time to wear our wedding band again. I couldn’t find any reason not to agree with her. So we discussed our preferences, and both of us agreed to have a customized ring with a profound representation of the principles we live by.

She benchmarked for good ring designs, I sketched some ideas. Until we came up with a design that 100% fit the story of our lives.

So, on our 15th anniversary – for the first time in over a decade – we proudly wear these new rings that carry a profound message. Engraved upon them are the intertwined symbols of faith, hope, and love. These three pillars have been the bedrock of our union – through thick and thin – shaping our story in meaningful ways.

Midway through our years, our faith in Jesus has saved our marriage from the brink of uncertainty. Since then, every year has been a testament to the miracles that unfold when we trust and surrender everything to Him. Having a cross in our ring will remind us of God’s unwavering presence, His boundless love, and the enduring faith that will continue to guide us through the constant twists and turns of life.

And as we enter the next chapters, we carry with us the lessons learned, the trials overcome, and the love that has grown stronger through it all. Our hearts are filled with hope for the future, knowing that faith and love will light our path.

Faith, hope, and love will continue to be the guiding forces in our lives. Together, we will embrace the unknown with open hearts, secure that our love and faith will carry us through, as how God has shown many times that he has carried us through, breakthrough after breakthrough.

Props to my wife, Raqz, for reminding me how beautiful it is to wear something as precious as this.
